A 20 W 12 V polycrystalline solar panel, for charging 12 V batteries and running compact solar lighting. Supplied as a replacement or add-on panel.
What it suits
Sized for LED loads of roughly 7 to 10 W. The panel should run at two to three times the LED wattage so the battery recovers through cloud and dust rather than only in clear conditions.
Using it
A charge controller is required — a 12 V panel produces around 18 to 22 V open-circuit and will overcharge a battery connected directly. Face south, tilt roughly to your latitude, leave an air gap behind the panel so it runs cooler, and clean the face every two to three months. Dust is the largest single cause of lost output in India.
